Revopoint Launches the MetroX 3D Scanner: Professional 3D Scanning At Affordable Price

By Keffer

With the launch of the Revopoint MetroX 3D Scanner, users now have access to a powerful and transformative device that promises to revolutionize 3D modeling. Officially launched on October 16, 2024, the MetroX is equipped with advanced structured light technology.

A Breakthrough in Blue Light Scanning

The MetroX features hybrid multi-line laser and 62-line full-field blue structured light scanning system. This combination allows the scanner to handle complex surfaces and materials with high precision, making it a go-to device for professionals in various fields, from reverse engineering to quality control and additive manufacturing. The 4 powerful scanning modes of MetroX supports the professionals seamlessly accelerating the workflow to maximize productivity.

  1. 14 Cross-line laser scanning mode, which uses seven pairs of crossed blue laser lines to scan glossy and black surfaces, capturing up to 800,000 points per second. This mode requires markers for accurate tracking.
  2. Parallel Lines laser mode is perfect for fine details, utilizing seven parallel blue laser lines to capture complex features.
  3. 62-line blue Full-field structured light scanning mode delivers incredible efficiency, capturing up to 7 million points per second, ensuring that even the smallest details are not missed.
  4. Auto Turntable scanning mode, which uses the included dual-axis turntable to automate the scanning process, delivering seamless results for small to medium objects.

This versatility makes MetroX ideal for a wide range of professional applications, from creating metrology-grade models to rapid prototyping.

Precision and Ease-of-Use

The MetroX sets a new standard for precision in its class, offering single-frame precision up to 0.01 mm and accuracy of up to 0.03 mm. With a fused point distance also up to 0.05 mm, users can expect reliable, high-quality scans every time.

For those working on different projects, the MetroX’s adjustable working distance of 200-400 mm and the large scanning area (160×70 mm at 200 mm to 320×215 mm at 400 mm) provide the flexibility needed for both small and medium-sized objects. The scanner’s minimal scan volume starts at 10x10x10 mm, and its maximum reaches an impressive 1x1x1 meter.

Moreover, the MetroX comes with a lithography calibration plate, ensuring that the scanner maintains its high accuracy over time. You can use the Revo Scan software, which supports point cloud scanning, fusion, meshing, and more, so we can easily import models into 3rd-party software like Geomagic Wrap or Quicksurface, making the scan-to-CAD workflow efficient and streamlined.

Accessible 3D Scanning for Professionals

Despite its advanced technology, the MetroX maintains a user-friendly design. The handheld and desktop capabilities, combined with the lightweight build (weighing just 508 grams), make it a practical choice for both new and experienced users. The scanner connects via USB Type-C, and its powerful internal components, including a 4-core ARM CPU, ensure fast and efficient processing of data. It’s compatible with both Windows and macOS systems.

Pricing

The Revopoint MetroX 3D Scanner is available for purchase through Kickstarter, with Super Early Bird discount of 35% off. Running until November 15, 2024, the campaign is expected to be a hit among professionals and enthusiasts. To get your hands on the latest in 3D scanning technology, visit the MetroX 3D Scanner’s Kickstarter page.

The Revopoint MetroX 3D Scanner Advanced Edition involves the Shaped Markers for MetroX. Streamline your scanning workflow using the Shaped Marker Kit with ball*10(magnetic), dome *10(magnetic), pyramid*4 (magnetic), bar*4 (magnetic) shaped markers. Place them on or around the item you’re scanning to quickly create tracking points for the MetroX.

Revopoint has successfully run 6 Kickstarter campaigns, A surprising stretch goal gift has also been selected in this campaign. The Revopoint MetroX 3D Scanner Kickstarter campaign also involves special add-on options, including Quick Surface software, which will be available at a competitive price during the Revopoint MetroX 3D Scanner Kickstarter campaign.
