Come 18th February, we’ll be getting a new player in the Malaysian smartphone market

If you haven’t heard of Oppo yet, you will soon. The China-based company has made waves with its smartphones resulting in some of us in Malaysia clamouring over when Oppo phones will finally reach our shores.

Guess what? They’re finally landing on our shores with the launch of the Oppo N1 next week on February 18.

NOT JUST ANOTHER PHABLET

If you aren’t cued in on what the the Oppo N1 one is, here’s a quick rundown. The 5.9-inch phone length will probably give you a hint that this is a phablet. Specs-wise, the N1 suffers from slightly old hardware with its 1.7 GHz Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor with just 2GB of RAM.

While the Oppo’s custom OS – called Color – is a novel idea, that’s not the crowd-favourite feature. The biggest highlight of the N1 would be its quirky, rotatable camera, a nod to the selfie-loving crowd. No microSD card slot on this one for expandable storage; just 16GB or 32GB internal storage options.

Pricing and availability will be revealed at the launch proper. So stay tuned for updates.
