How to Remove Facebook Birthdays from iPhone Calendar

By Tuan Do

When you start using a new iPhone, one of the first thing you will do is connecting Facebook account to the phone. As I just want to use Facebook as news feed, I feel very annoyed when all Facebook friends’ contact information and birthdays are added to my Calendar app.

This could make a mess if you have a significant of friends on Facebook and you don’t care about their birthdays. The real appointments and events are much more important and absolutely you don’t want to miss them because of those birthdays.

The birthdays does not only show up in your Calendar app but also in the Notification Center. Therefore, most users will want to get rid of the birthdays from unknown friends. I will show you how to disable the feature on iPhone 5S or iOS 7.

To prevent Facebook birthdays from displaying in your Calendar, you just need to go to the app, tap the red Calendars text at the bottom of the screen. The text looks not to be clickable but it is, I hate the flat design more because of the confusion.

Subsequently, you will see the Birthdays under Facebook being checked. Now, just tap on the line to uncheck Facebook birthdays.

This will hide all birthdays of your Facebook friends in Calendar app as well as in Notification Center.

If you want to view birthday of your friend, you will need to look it up on contact page. Let me know if this post could help.

      Haha, that’s the truth. Most users have a lot of ‘friends’ that they don’t know at all. I even got some from Candy Crush.
      Btw, I’m glad the tip is helpful for you. :)

      I went to the calendar app,
      then my calendars, there was a calendar named Facebook listed
      clicked box with an arrow and eye next to it,
      then under the Facebook calendar listing is say’s ‘synced not visible’
      So its still synced but at least it doesn’t fill up your calendar with birthdays.

    This didn’t work for me. I have two ipads with the same account and they both continue to receive birthday notifications from facebook and i’m at my witts end I can not figure out how to stop it. Someone told me to disable the default notification time, i did that, the only calendar selected in my calendars is mine, no check marks next to facebook or birthdays, i removed the facebook app, i deleted my facebook account. I turned off birthday notifications from facebook it’self and still it is happening. It’s like the cat that just wouldn’t go away until poor mr. johnson blew his head off. if anyone has a fix please let me know. [email protected]

    I have followed these directions three times. It seems to work, but then it turns itself back on again.

    I have IPhone 6s.
    * Go to Settings
    * Go to calendar
    * Go to Accounts
    * Click on iCloud
    * Turn off Calendar
    This fixed it for me. I didn’t turn off calendar in my email accounts …ONLY in iCloud

    There was no “Facebook” option under Calendars for me with a 8+. I had to uncheck “contacts”

    To delete an Individual’s Birthday from your Contacts/Synced from Facebook onto your iPhone Calendar, Go to the Contact on your iPhone OR Click on the Present next to the Name on your Calendar and that will take you to the Contact Name on your iPhone. Click Edit, Scroll down to the Birthday, Slightly Press/Pull to the Left – (it will be Red) and the Delete button appears to the Right of the Date. Click Delete. Then Done.
