If you don’t like the back panel of Samsung Galaxy S5, probably due to its perforated pattern, it is not a big problem because it is replaceable. Last year, I tried the S-View Cover on my Samsung Galaxy S4, and now I am trying the new S-View Cover for S5 with a lot of improvements.

Design
The new S-View Cover looks much better than its predecessor. It has a bigger window and more importantly, its external look makes bring premium feeling to your device. From the plastic with faux leather design to the stitching along edges, everything makes your device more appealing. I used a black case on my white Galaxy S5 and this seems to be a great combination. Take a look at some product images:
The case is so easy to apply on your S5, I just remove the existing back panel and snap the new case on the back. I love this mechanism because it doesn’t make my phone more bulky and still retain its thinness.
After applying the case, you will still can access some functions through a large transparent window on the front. Basically, you can take square picture with camera app, see missed calls, text previews, accept/reject calls, call back, see weather information and pedometer stats. And of course, you will have auto sleep/wake function.
Protection
As the Galaxy S5 is dust and water resistant, probably you will be worried that the case will ruin the IP 67 rating. No, it is not because the sealing rubber can still be found inside the cover.
The cover probably can’t protect your phone as well as some 2-layer cases, however, the material is quite sturdy. Therefore, I believe it will not a big deal as long as the front cover is not flipped back.
The S-View Cover is available on Amazon for around $29. I’d recommend it to Galaxy S5’s users because it is good looking, has some nice functions and I like the faux leather material.
